Exploring Fraser
You can explore Fraser Island from your rental home by foot or by 4 Wheel Drive.
Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world and the island’s roads are predominantly sand tracks or beaches.
As a World Heritage Listed site, Fraser Island (or K’Gari as it is known to the indigenous Butchulla people) has pristine environs for you to discover.
From the hundreds of fresh water lakes with water so clear you will feel like you’re floating, to the stunning coloured sands at The Pinnacles, there is so much natural beauty to enjoy.
At Lake Boomanjin the water is red, like tea, due to the presence of wallum tree tannins!
Fraser Island is also home to some of the country’s only sub-tropical climate fens, bursting with all sorts of bird and wildlife.
On Fraser you can also visit the tallest lighthouse in Queensland at Sandy Cape or simply wet a line at one of the popular fishing spots or head to one of the hiking tracks suitable for varying levels of fitness.
During whale season, you might even spot migrating humpbacks, especially from Indian Head.
There’s a reason the Butchulla people call it K’Gari – it means “paradise”.
Why don’t you discover that for yourself?
